WARDS EXPRESS (LIVE)

Friday 2 February 2018
7:00PM

FREE LIVE SHOW

Guitarist/Singer/Songwriter Ross Ward’s first ‘Bluesfest’ appearance was in ’95, where the idea for the band ‘Ward’s Xpress’ was conceived. That’s a little over 24 years of keeping a band working that is musically committed to originality and in a constant pursuit of excellence ( along with a deep love of The Blues!). For Ross, it’s also been nearly 50 years as a guitar player, working and recording with some of the best artists and musicians in this country over that time.

In July 2015, ‘Wards Xpress’ celebrated their 20th anniversary by releasing ‘The Back Roads’ retrospective album ( a remastered selection of tracks from the band’s back-catalogue ). The CD hit the ‘Number One’ position on the ‘Australian Blues & Roots Airplay Chart’ and stayed there for the next three months, giving the band their second consecutive ‘No 1’, after the success of 2012’s ‘Five Lanes’.

The ‘Xpress delivers a high energy show consisting of blues, rock, funk & soul, with some world music and jazz influences.

The band has been one of Australia’s hardest working live outfits, with an enviable track record as festival artists, including no less than 12 appearances at Bluesfest, the last being 2016. The current line-up of noted musicians in the ranks includes bassist Chris Stafford, drummer Tony Boyd, and band leader Ross Ward on guitar, lap-steel and vocals.

After almost 25 years of working under the banner ‘Ward’s Xpress’ & almost 50 years as a full-time ‘pro’, Ross has decided it’s time to ‘put the que in rack’. All of the band’s shows during the 1st quarter of 2018 will be for the last time.

We hope you’ll join us for the ‘Last Home Run’ tour. Our last appearance in the ACT will be on Fri 2nd Feb at the Harmonie German Club in Narrabundah.
