Dean Edgecombe and the Seventh Sons have been around in various configurations for quite a while now, but the common denominator has always been a shared passion for all things Blues.
The current band line up features Dean Edgecombe on bass and vocals, Rob West on drums and vocals, Artem Grigoriev on guitar and James Hoogstad on tenor sax and harmonica. Over the past eighteen months the Seventh Sons have gigged solidly around Canberra and have recently released their second album, “The Midnight End of Town” to rave reviews.
The Seventh Sons set is a great mix of classic and original Blues and Roots music with the odd curve ball thrown in for good measure. Their songs are presented with respect, excellent musicianship and a sense of fun. The Seventh Sons will take you everywhere the Blues has been and then some.
The host band will be followed by some of the finest musicians in the region jamming together for a great afternoon of live blues music. So bring your family, bring your friends and don’t forget your dancing shoes.

CHARLIE MUSSELWHITE feat KID ANDERSON (USA) @ The Zeppelin Room
Gerrard Allman Events is proud to announce the return of legendary American artist
Charlie Musselwhite for a run of not-to-be-missed Australian dates in September. Grammy-Award winning Musselwhite will be bringing his excellent touring band with him for the tour – Kid Andersen on Guitar, June Core on Drums and Randy Bermudes on Bass.
Catch Charlie Musselwhite and band in Melbourne at Northcote Theatre on Wednesday 18th, Manning Bar, Sydney on Friday 20th, The Tivoli, Brisbane on Saturday 21st, Harmonie German Club, Canberra on Tuesday 24th, Perth’s Astor Theatre on Thursday 26th and The Governor Hindmarsh, Adelaide on Saturday September 28.
With nearly six decades of rich musical history behind him, including numerous albums, countless live performances, multiple awards and accolades, there are very few artists of the stature of Charlie Musselwhite. As Rolling Stone Magazine stated, “Superb, original and compelling…Charlie Musselwhite, with unabashed excellence, sets the standard for blues.”
Tickets to all shows are on sale now via www.gaevents.au
“Charlie Musselwhite continues to astonish. Musselwhite achieves an authoritative deep blues sound through spare understatement as only a master can.” – Off Beat Magazine
“Legendary is an overused term, but it’s also the only word that suits this heavyweight blues harpist.” – Time Out New York
“Harmonica virtuoso Musselwhite raises the level of emotional expression on his instrument beyond even the masters he learned from…the grizzled veteran richly decorates his music with telling nuance and chiseled detail.” – San Francisco Chronicle
“His delivery is as thick as molasses and as warm and rich as freshly ploughed soil on a Mississippi morning. He draws from a deep pool of emotion, brings it to life when he plays, and invites us to jump on in.” – BluesWax
“Musselwhite continues to create trailblazing music while remaining firmly rooted in the blues. His worldly-wise vocals, rich, melodic harmonica playing and deep country blues guitar work flawlessly accompany his often autobiographical and always memorable original songs.” – AllAboutJazz.com

Canberra Blues Society presents Bondi Cigars with special guest support Divine Devilles
This award-winning quartet has well and truly established themselves into Australia’s musical heart since forming in 1989
When the Bondi Cigars were first gigging around Sydney, late 1989, they moved in a blues/R&B circuit which, while robust enough since the 60s, had then been sparked into new life by the ‘blues revival’ of the mid-80’s, spearheaded by Robert Cray, Joe Louis Walker, Stevie Ray Vaughan and similar crusaders. And while many of the Sydney bands from that era have vanished, become historical footnotes or undergone major changes, the Cigars – true survivors – have battled on, without ever compromising their distinctive no nonsense style, to become a leading force in Australian R&B.
That original Cigars line-up brought together four like-minded experienced players, all veterans of Sydney inner-west blues venues, and from the word go, the Cigars have been the very model of the ‘no passengers’ band, a well-oiled machine plus soul: no room for slackers here.
The Bondi Cigars have built a solid reputation as one of the best live acts in the country.
Always one of the country’s hardest working outfits (on the road more than off), the Cigars have kept their music tight, hard-driving and down-to-earth: the Australian bar band par excellence.
Shane Pacey (vocals and guitar)
Alan Britton (bass and vocals)
Eben Hale (guitar and vocals)
Frank Corby (drums)
Special guest support: Divine Devilles
Singer/songwriters/musicians, Ali Penney and Dorothy-Jane Gosper, come together as Divine Devilles.
Two well-travelled souls, each with a swag of awards, a suitcase full of songs, their hearts on their sleeves and a love of that sweet, swinging, shuffling, grooving place where Blues and Jazz meet.
This is a powerhouse act with award-winning songs, vocals, keys and blues-harp, plus bags of cheek, charm and pizazz!

In 2004 the Bamford family & friends lost a much loved son. A fit, healthy, driven young man. A bright future ahead. A music lover. A family man.
Wally went to sleep one night & mysteriously never woke up, the best explanation to be found (in layman’s terms) was that he was a victim of something akin to an adult-version of SIDS- SADS, if you will. And, as we were to discover, this tragedy has happened to many other families.
As a musical family, with an even wider network of musician friends, we decided to hold an annual concert- with the aim to not only remember Wal & celebrate his life but also to raise much needed funds for The Centenary Institute, who are doing vital research into this terrible condition. Now in it’s 19th consecutive year and with well over $115,000 raised, we are starting a new chapter at The Harmonie German Club in the fantastic Zeppelin Room. We can’t wait to bring a huge afternoon/night of entertainment to this great venue!
