ABOUT ANN
“Ann, 41 year old, a single mother to 10 year old son, Elijah (my absolute love and sunshine of my life). In the middle of moving house in November, Ann was feeling discomfort in her abdomen.
She initially thought she had pulled muscles or given herself a hernia moving furniture. Ann attended the doctor due to the pain and discomfort and was sent off for an ultrasound.
The ultrasound discovered a 25cm mass in her abdomen that had started in her right ovary. Ann was admitted to hospital and was reviewed and given an informal ‘cancer’ diagnosis and a date for surgery to undergo a salpingo oopherectomy (removal of the mass, right ovary and fallopian tube) and investigation.
Following the surgery, it was confirmed that the 25cm mass was an ovarian cancer, Mucinous Carcinoma.
This cancer is extremely rare with only 3% of cases reported in the world. Due to the cancers infiltrative behaviour and with further testing showing signs it has metastasized,
Ann has commenced chemotherapy which she will need to undergo for 8 rounds and with the likelihood of further surgery and possibly additional treatment once these rounds of chemo have been completed.”
On the 11th April we have organised a Trivia fundraising night.
The raffle’s first prize is $25 000, and that’s just one of the fantastic prizes!! Tables are still available… Time to get involved and help out Ann in her time of need!
