Here is a unique sort of soulful and sassy package of blues and roots:
Open it! Bonnie Kay, a contemporary American singer/songwriter from Philadelphia landed in Australia via Tokyo, uses acoustic, finger-picking, slide-guitar techniques, plus a voice reminiscent of blues icon Bonnie Raitt’s, to deliver her own red-hot, sexy sound.

Add Wayne Rigby on saxophone and flute, Catherine Golden on double bass, Luke Herbert on drums, Kaiki Suzuki on trumpet and Nic Lewis on electric guitar and it’s a Bonafide Band with a capital B. That, there, is the triple truth, Ruth!

With a debut album that landed in the top ten of the Australian Blues and Roots Charts and spent six months in the top twenty five, Bonnie Kay and the Bonafides have exploded onto the Australian Blues and Roots scene!

Having supported some of the best blues touring bands like Hussy Hicks, Mason Rack Band and many more, they have firmly established themselves as one of the hardest working blues and roots bands in Sydney.

Bonnie Kay and the Bonafides have made quite an impact on the festival circuit, performing at major festivals around the country including Sydney Blues and Roots Festival, Docklands Blues Festival, Australian Blues Festival, Kiama Jazz and Blues Festival, Agnes Water Blues, Jamberoo Music Festival and Echuca Winter Blues Festival

With a unique mix of blues, roots, alternative country and jazz, this original band is bringing their high-energy, horn-driven music to the masses and loving every minute of it!
