Event Details

The Groove Kings host Canberra Blues Society November Blues Jam.

Maxwell Street in Chicago is often considered to be the birthplace of what became known as Chicago Blues: a tough, straight ahead, urban version of the Blues that had drifted up from the Mississippi delta in the 1930s and 1940s.

The Groove Kings featuring 5 local brilliant musicians who love to celebrate all the good things in Blues.

They’ll be kicking off our Blues Jam with some stripped back instrumentation, low-tech amplification and a whole lot of storytelling in the Blues tradition. Soak up the righteous shuffles, low down guitar, funky piano, mean harmonica and direct vocals of one of the twentieth century’s most magnificent music genres. As the saying goes, ‘Blues is life’.

So put on your high heeled sneakers, wear your wig hat on your head, and get ready to holler for a dollar when Dave Blanken, Mitch Preston, Leo Joseph, Matt Nightingale and Little Gus take the stage to throw down some killer-diller all meat no filler super heavyweight blues!

The host band will be followed by some of the finest musicians in the Canberra region, jamming together for a fantastic afternoon of live Blues music.
